Our Story

Westec, Ltd. was founded in 1981. Over the decades, the company has evolved as real estate cycles have confronted the industry with periodic challenges and changes. In its initial years, Westec was a boutique full-service firm specializing in neighborhood shopping centers for developer clients.

As market shifts occurred, the company diversified, drawing on the broad background of its principals to expand into management and leasing for institutional owners in retail, industrial, and office products.

In 1995, Don Pickens became the sole founding principal and redirected the company to its present configuration, focusing exclusively on advisory and brokerage services. Today, Westec represents larger family ownerships, developers, and multi-location tenants in their acquisition, sale, and leasing requirements across a wide range of categories.

Our guiding principle is to secure our clients’ best interests and address all of their varied needs with the utmost professional integrity. Above all else, we value our relationships with our clients and depend on our strong connections with other brokers in the broader brokerage community.
